Day 1: Dar es Salaam – Selous Game Reserve

Pick up from your hotel in Dar Es Salaam city center and transfer to domestic terminal for your flight to Selous Game Reserve with 11:30hrs scheduled flight. On arrive at 12:00hrs meet, greet and drive to the Camp for hot Lunch. Relax at the camp. Afternoon, proceed for a boat safari along River Rufiji
Dinner and overnight at Zarafa Tented Camp (L,D).

Day 2 + 3: 2 activities daily of your choice in Selous Game Reserve

After breakfast, 2 full days in the Selous Game Reserve exploring the reserve by foot (on one of the days) and 4 wheel drive vehicle.

The Selous Game Reserve is the largest in Africa, covering 54,600 square kilometer. The reserve gets its name from the hunter and explorer Frederick Courtney Selous. He was killed here during World War 1. Selous is famous for elephants. Other species commonly seen are lions, wild dogs, buffaloes, bushbuck, impalas, elands, baboons, zebras and greater kudus. It was originally set aside as a hunting area where animals are abundant but more shy then the Northern Parks. Excursions by 4×4 vehicle will permit you to have good photographic opportunities and the chance to explore different sections of vast park.

You will discover the Simbazi River, a tributary of the Rufiji, in the South West of the Northern sector of the Selous by boat, encounter hippos and crocodiles in good numbers. and land based animals coming to the waters edge. Some 350 bird species have been recorded in the Selous Game Reserve. These are typical of miombo woodlands, and the bird life supported by Rufiji swamplands is of particular interest. Optional game walks with an armed ranger in this beautiful and wild reserve is a highly recommended experience not to be missed. Selous has high concentrations of game and relatively few tourists. The area around the Lodge is also one of Tanzania’s few Rhino reserves.

Walking safari will give you a particularly intimate feel for the African wilds. It starts in the morning with a guidance of an armed ranger, takes 2 hours before you meet the driver at the reserve gate. Walking safaris offer a good chance of seeing giraffe, zebra, elephant, and good birding.

Day 4: Selous Game Reserve – Ruaha National Park

After breakfast, transfer to Mtemere airstrip for a 07:45hrs flight departing to Ruaha National Park. On arrival at 09:30hrs, meet with your driver guide and proceed with game drive in Ruaha National Park with picnic lunch. 

This part of Ruaha has some of the highest density of animals in the area. Excellent game viewing opportunities. Dinner and overnight at Tandala Tented Camp (B,L,D)

Day 5 + 6: Game Drive in Ruaha National Park (Ruaha Safari)

After breakfast, 2 full days exploring Ruaha National Park by car. Ruaha National Park is a vast area with many areas visited only infrequently allowing visitors a glimpse wilderness rarely seen by other tourists. Dinner and overnight at Tandala Tented Camp (B,L,D)

Covering 13,000 square kilometers. Its name comes from Ruaha River. Which is built overlooking the Great Ruaha River and it blends into its natural surroundings to enable visitors to feel themselves part of the wild.

Day 7: Ruaha National Park – Dar es salaam/ Zanzibar

After breakfast, morning departure to Msembe airstrip for your flight to Dar es salaam or Zanzibar (B)
