MOUNT MERU TREK VIA NORTHERN ROUTE


Mount Meru trek via Northern Route, Eastern Rift Mountains, is 4,565 meter above sea level located around 70 kilometers west from Kilimanjaro Mountain and in Arusha National Park.

Day 1: Arusha Town – Arusha National Park – Momella Gate HQ

Pick up from Arusha town and transfer to Arusha National Park via NGONGONGARE Gate, then drive to the starting point of the Mount Meru Climb, Momella Gate / headquarters’ (1500 m) for Park formalities, Armed Ranger Guide, sorting your Luggage with the Porters.
Trek through Fig Tree to Miriakamba for about 5 hour including picnic lunch break at Moiyo Waterfall.
Dinner and overnight Mirikamba Hut (2500 m), 14 km

Day 2: Mount Meru

After breakfast trek for 4 hour to Saddle Point, lunch on arrival, rest for 2 hours, side-trek for acclimatization to little Mount Meru (3800 m).
Dinner and overnight Saddle Hut (3500 m), 7 km

Day 3: Mount Meru and Descent

Early morning wake-up call, have Tea & Cookies for Breakfast.
Your climb starts at 1200 via Rhino Point (3801 m). You must prepare for rough trail “rock-line” to Mount Meru Peak (4562 m). 8 km trek down from Mount Meru Peak to Saddle Hut via the same trail.
Have brunch and afternoon trek down to Momella gate / headquarters’ (28 km) via Jiwe la Lami, meet your driver and transfer to Arusha town.
